The Power Behind the Throne – The Three Queens in the Wars of the Roses

Margaret Anjou, Elizabeth Woodville and Anne Neville are the three powerful women who all reigned as Queen of England during the bloody civil wars in England in the 15th century known as the Wars of the Roses.

Behind the scenes, bold and passionate Margaret, quiet and scheming Elizabeth and tragic pawn Anne cast their power and dominance over their Kings, shaping the events directly in the bloody dynastic battles between the Lancastrian Red Rose and the Plantagenet White Rose.

Explore their stories as they unfold over the course of Shakespeare’s four plays: Henry VI Parts I, II and III, and Richard III, each one full of intrigue, complexity and violence. Join us to unlock the legends behind these powerful women in their desire for power and influence.
