Written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden is about a touching story of a spoiled orphan’s self discovery and transformation through the fascinating healing power of nature. Mary Lennox, a sickly and foul tempered young orphan who is sent to live with her mysterious uncle, Archibald Craven, in his mansion. The mansion is full of secrets, but a locked garden on the estate is the one that fascinates Mary the most.
Mary gradually brings life back to this abandoned garden and transforms it into a thing of beauty…eventually creating magical healing power on herself and on another secret inhabitant of the house.

Red Boat (Full Play)
In Cantonese, with English surtitles

This play is set in the tumultuous times after the Boxer Rebellion and the Revolution of 1911 when everybody in China was faced with the choice of maintaining the monarchy, constitutional reform or western democracy. The story is about an opera troupe living and travelling on a Red Boat stopping in small towns to perform. Red Boats were often used for covet travel of revolutionaries. In this period of history as choice are embedded the lives of two brothers who worked on the stage. Though trained together, they were forcibly parted and then reunited at the end of the play.

Their conflict and decision show how politics affect the lives of everybody even those who shun politics. The directors, Vicki Ooi and Oscar Fung, present all viewpoints so that audience is presented with political views that are still relevant today. Their script and staging concept will incorporate elements of Cantonese opera into Physical Theatre.
